The International Football Association Board (IFAB) is the organisation that serves the world of football as the independent guardian of the Laws of the Game.
In March 2017, IFAB approved in principle the Temporary Dismissals scheme, which included the use of so-called ‘Sin Bins’. This gave National Associations the authority to implement Sin Bins for dissent.
Sin Bins are all about changing behaviour and making the game more enjoyable for everyone. They are designed to deal with a particular type of misconduct on the day.
Referees will report all instances when a player has been sent to the Sin Bin.
